Saving face?

It's interesting how much pride can get us all in trouble. We don't want to admit when we get hurt so we pretend that we're fine. We don't want to be the first ones to admit when we're wrong. People go as far as to lie, hurt each other with piercing words and turn their backs on their hearts, just to avoid getting hurt first. And even then, it's the fear of the possibility of getting hurt. So instead of taking a chance and being honest, they sabotage everything...just in case.

Pride can be a great thing. But it also has the power to destroy the best things in life if it's abused. Besides, sometimes people see right through that thick shield of sarcasm through to the very lie you're telling.

Anyways, I was daydreaming of someone I know who speaks before they think. I have a feeling he's going to be surrounded by regret the rest of his life. All in the name of pride. Should be a life lesson learned, but some people never pay attention to past mistakes.
