Let's start with January...

I'm prepping for the Oscars and so far, my fave movie is "Milk". But I'll also recommend "Revolutionary Road", "Slumdog Millionaire", "The Reader" and "Frost Nixon". I've learned that I'm obsessed with movies dealing with journalism. I enjoy researching and used to do news radio in Alaska when I was 20. I took a lot of journalism in high school and college. Apparently when I was in Junior High I wanted to be the editor of Rolling Stone Magazine. Movies I love with the theme are "The Insider", "The Paper", "All The President's Men", "Up Close and Personal", "Network", "Shattered Glass" and I'm sure there are 100 more.

I also realize that I want to do so many things career-wise, that I end up doing nothing. Here's the short list: -Own my own casting agency -Screenwriting -Producing -Become an On Air Personality -Songwriter (possibly singer) -Own my own magazine (film) -Own my own Non-profit focusing on any of the following: -Helping children in foreign countries get their basic needs , especially in Africa (education, food, clothes, housing, sex education) -Environment (conservation, renewable resources, education, wildlife protection, setting a political agenda on sustainability) -Documentary filmmaking -Own and run a camp for kids -Detective I'm sure there's more, but those are the main things. Yeah, a tall order, where do I begin??

I just put an offer on a house the other day and should hear back tomorrow. It's in Hayward (Yuck!) but I'd own something and the value will go up. Now is CERTAINLY the time to buy, some properties are at half of what they were 3 years ago. It's nuts!

Still working at Rumsey and still believe in our company and it's aim to make zero energy buildings. I don't want to be here forever as I'm not an engineer, but atleast it's tied to a cause I believe in which is the environment and doing all we can to save it. BTW, Sam Rockwell needs to be cast in more films, he's a breath of fresh air each time I see him. What a talent and he owns the screen in his scenes. If you do nothing else...check out "Milk" in the theaters!! Don't wait to rent it, this is one for the big screen!

My favorite saying that I've ever received in a fortune cookie was "You can't move backwards into the future." Here's to 09' and all of it's unpredictability.

Over and Out, S
